Ducky’s Note: The volcanic ash and its havoc on air travel in Europe has thrown up a lot of opportunities for the European big boys to make some much deserved road trips across Europe. Hence, in spite of being the Manc on this site, I simply had to take this opportunity to nod to one of my favourite bands, RHCP and their immemorial song – Road Trippin. So here goes, Rafael Benitez’s version of the song, while on the 1200-mile trip to Madrid.

Europa League Round up

One of those things that I never understand is how we lost to Lille at first leg. Frankly I see them as the Portsmouth of French Ligue 1. Lifeless and pathetic and yet they had this Hazard fella, and you know how it goes with the name saying it all. Well at least we made amends this time and some good attacking display helped us see off Lille. Speaking of attacking displays, what about Lucas.

As strange as it might sound, Lucas was at his attacking best yesterday and made plenty of good passes and runs forward and not plenty of those backward and lateral passes, of which he is famous for.

Europa ain’t boring after all

Liverpool’s visit to Romania ended up in them scoring a sum of three goals for the first time since September last year. A relief after one of the dull matches of this season at Eastlands. Although a lot of interest is generated towards City after their FA cup exit at this post, lets take a ride with some of the fun filled Europa moments from yesterday night.

U for Unirea Urziceni

Watching the Europa league is a weird experience. Be it for the Anfield faithfuls or those thousands of miles apart watching it on their telly. To start with I have never watched live footy on a thursday night. Or technically friday morning in which case uttering the phrase “Thank god it’s Friday” makes it even weirder. Last time this year, to be precise, we were at the place where Lyon are now, ripping Real Madrid apart making a clown of them. The 5th referee was another weird distraction and you simply can’t wait but wonder when he’ll do a Beach ball. And what is to be utterly weird is the fact that we are playing a team whose name is not only unheard of but also practically un-spellable until atleast three attempts even by the standards of those Indian-born spell bee champs. C’est la vie Ladies & Gents , welcome to the Europa League.

By the way, did you know Unirea is a closet Chelshit team in disguise.
