This is a f***ing disgrace.
I’ve seen schoolboys play with more passion and desire. I’ve seen 12 year olds make more intelligent runs when presented with acres of space behind a Blackburn defence that’s best only at contact sports. A team which was supposed to respond to three games of lackluster presence and uncharacteristic disjointedness came up with a show which, if I had traveled to watch them, would’ve made me ask for my money back. There aren’t enough words to describe the forehead-smacking, clenched-fist moment I’m going through right now, but I’ll try nevertheless. For that’s what this blog is for, and I hope to find fellow feeling in at least some of you who read this.
Firstly, Kiko Macheda can’t start games yet. Even if Berbatov is completely hopeless playing on his own up front, Macheda is not the answer. With his absolute lack of awareness, attempts at being clever 12 yards from the goal and a general tendency to run straight into trouble, I wouldn’t follow this bugger into any battle if he was leading the line. I’d rather tell him to sit it out, go back home, oil his bayonet and take on 11 people myself. At least that way I’ll know it’s all in my hands. Or feet. Between him and Berbatov, they probably exchanged 6 passes all evening. 5 of them failed, the one that got through to Macheda, he promptly did some back-heel, side-flip, outrageously-clever and completely-useless thing with his foot and ran straight into a brick wall of 5 Blackburn defenders. Congratulations.
This match has surely, definitely, undoubtedly ended the Berbatov Conundrum. He needs to go, period. There is no use having a striker who sits around on the pitch for 23.5 minutes because someone threw an elbow on his face while two opposition attacks and three attacks from your own team have finished all around you. Clearly the game goes on quite fine without you, so STFU and play! All the talk about playing behind the striker, holding up, creating moves was shown to be tosh and nonsense as Berbatov’s one good pass all day was not converted by Valencia. After that he neither did any holding up nor create any space for the rest around him. In fact, for the most part he managed very successfully to give the ball away in the attacking third.
For their credit, Blackburn had absolutely no intention of adding salt to our attacking woes and nicking one on the counter or anything. “Blackburn quite content to sit back now”, says the commentator, at the 75th minute. When the hell were they not? Sure they got bodies behind the ball and generally cramped us for space but it wasn’t like they were throwing themselves into every tackle and hanging on by their fingernails. They didn’t have to. If we had around 30 seconds of possession, between Berba Nani or Macheda, we ran out of ideas and simply let the ball roll back to them. We were as penetrative as an 80 year-old’s sperm trying to get through a triple layer of Durex.
We played the last 15 minutes like we’d written this one off, resigned ourselves to not getting the 4th title this season and generally chilling out in life. I can understand the fatigue. This season especially has been one where there have been “must-win” matches all over the place. The league’s got tougher, Europe’s been more exhausting than usual seemingly and even the inglorious early exit from the FA Cup doesn’t seem to have made it all any easier. But that is no excuse for the complete lack of fight that the 11 men in red showed through the 90 minutes at Ewood Park. It’s not what I signed up to see. It’s not what all those traveling fans deserve to see.
Fergie has some very very hard questions to ask, and answer at the end of this game. The addition of a striker/attacking winger in the summer seems a no-brainer now. If Valencia’s as out of cash as they claim to be, I’ll gladly take Villa (whatever the Scouse might say). Silva’s an option too. Gorcouff comes to mind. No Frank Ribery though, I don’t want to see that cut-face bastard anywhere near OT after his ‘oh no, he shot me, he knifed me, I’m dyiiiiinnnggg’ performance to get Rafael sent off. And the ‘elegant’ Bulgarian can go lead a happy life elsewhere. I’m not the English press and so this is no xenophobic calls for his head while claiming St. Wayne Rooney can do no wrong. This is a completely neutral observation from 90 minutes of watching United’s undoubtedly most pathetic performance of the season. And nothing else he can do from here till the end of the season can make me change my mind about this.
What a disgusting build-up to face Shitty.
Hahahah nice post Ducky,you only notice how lazy Berbatov is now?! Funny man,you Mancs only depend on Rooney. Good game Blackburn! Now we will gladly take the invitation for 2nd place but 1st we need to show our next door neighbours a thing or 2 about the top 4. Hahahahahahahah
Yeah. Pathetic.
And I think I’d like to save some of my frustration from Berbatov to vent it on some of the others who played today as well.
I had no clue why the Berba jack ass was soo frustrated??? He was epic disaster. . .!!
I dont understand why he is a red devil . . . he should be more of a circus clown. . (( well thats what some asinine people he is good for right??@!? . . pulling rabbits from hats )) and whenever he pulls one good trick they are like… ” Did you see that… did you see that. . . Ooohh aaahhh ohh god” , like they just got an orgasm. . .
Well to be true, ducky.. I guess this is actually a good thing to happen. . . Atleast now SAF and others will realize that .. . . its better to accept 30M pound mistake that cover it up by claiming that worthless piece of shit to be world class.
Ohh god. . . I just can’t believe that even shit costs 30 M pounds. . . .!! These are indeed the dark times. . .
Yeah, and I do agree we don’t need that ribery french fker in our midst . . . and neither the whore Robben . . . both Rib and Rob can Rub their d!@#s together.
😀
😀 😀 80 year old’s sperm 😀 😀 😀
Though dude, which eneration are you living in? Oil his bayonet it seems 🙂
Yeah, if some guy told me he was ‘oiling his bayonet’ today, I’d assume he was speaking euphemistically.
🙂
I don’t think it was fatigue dude….See both the forwards didn’t start in the bayern match and the people who actually played in the Bayern match (like vidic , Ferd.) were not the real culprits. Berba again threw me in the thinking pond. For us its like,
NO Rooney==no attack;
NO Fletcher==no mid;
NO vidic,Fer==No defence.
We seriously need Hargreaves to return in his prime form..We will stand on the podium this time too…But the height of it, is yet to be decided…
It is a about time you manc fans woke up and realise your team is in decline, too many too old and I must admit it is credit to fergie that they have got this far, Rooney has been carrying this team all year as well which has helped to mask the problems, I would admit you have a worldclass defence but your midfield is second rate grandpas who are either not good enough or past their best. It is also the case the chelsea and arsenal have had their problems as well otherwise man u would have been out of the title race along time ago 7 defeats that is poor
just to add some more gloom your way I dont think man u have the money to replace some of the mistakes you call football players, spuds conned you into buying a player not worth 8 million
Nice post !! I always used to defend Berba … but after his recent displays in big matches , I think he should go and we should get an experienced striker .. The Mexican guy we bought seems good but i don’t think he would be a first team regular just yet .. But we need a striker who runs channels and drops deep … Then he can compliment rooney cause these days rooney remains central …
We also need a new midfielder … Scholes is old , Carrick & Anderson are not influential in big games and Gibson is not good enough …
Thank god for Drogba
Okay,
First off, United don’t need another striker, they need an effing attacking midfield. The one they have now sucks at attacking and is outdated.
Second of all, Berbatov is not going anywhere at the end of this season I can guarantee you that 100%.
Thirdly, having seen how bad the midfield was, I wouldn’t be surprised if he starts against City in a 442 alongside Rooney if he were to return.
And to reply to the moron named Disappointed Fan:
– No the ‘Mexican guy’ is not going to start for United;
– ‘Sell Berbatov and get an experienced striker instead’: Do you have anymore of these genius ideas?
– And you think United need a striker who drops deep. Both Berbatov and Rooney drop deep ALL the time. I think you should stop thinking.
You used to defend Berbatov. I’m really glad you stopped.
@Sean – I said that the Mexican guy won’t be a first team regular !! ( NEXT TIME READ CAREFULLY )
and Rooney stays up these days . Thats the reason why he scores more goals . And WE DO NEED AN EXPERIENCED STRIKER ! Owen is shit , and Berba is not that effective and all our other strikers are inexperienced .
We do need a new attacking midfielder though … Wish we bought sneijder last season .
Berba is good at creating attacks and has good ball control … But i think he just couldn’t adapt to our style of play .
WE WILL PLAY 4-3-3 AGAINST MANC .
