What makes football the greatest sport in the world? What is it about a 10 inch wide sphere that has a globe, 8000 miles wide, alternating between the throes of agony and ecstasy? If you ask me, it all boils down to one word. Passion; an incredible amount of which is involved in the beautiful game.
That passion manifests itself in a million different ways in people. Typical case? Who better for me to analyze than well, Me? Typical 22 year old of whose existence Cesc Fabregas is sadly unaware of. If by some bizarre stroke of fortune, I were to release a djinn trapped in a rusty old lamp for a million years, making him happy enough to offer me one wish in life, I’d ask him to make me the greatest footballer in the world who leads Arsenal F.C to Champions League and Premier League triumphs for the next 50 years. I spend 8 of my allotted 24 hours in a typical day sleeping, one hour at lunch, 5, scouring the internet for ANY scrap of news related to the Arsenal, invariably re-reading every link on Gooner News, 2, recalling Henry wunderstrikes and Cesc defense splitters, you get the point. Once in two days I manage to squeeze in some time for this wonderful blog and once in a million years, I play the game trying in vain to score from 30 yards or thread a team-mate through. That sounds like you too? Read on then.
Continuing on our study of the typical football fan, inventorying the contents of my wardrobe would result in the compilation of a list that follows.
Shirt (Formal) – 5 or 6
Trousers (Formal) – 4 or 5
Jeans – 4
Blazer (Extremely Formal) – 2
Normal T-Shirts (Extremely Underused) – 5 or 6
Arsenal T-Shirts (Well Worn) – 4
Arsenal ’04-’05 Jersey (Replica) – 1
Arsenal ’07-’08 Jersey (Untouched & Revered) – 1
Arsenal Shorts (almost threadbare) – 3
Arsenal ’03-’04 Shorts (Tattered) – 1
There is no better and visible way of showing your loyalty to a side than sporting your team colors. There is no occasion where a jersey is considered unsuitable attire (though your boss might tend to frown upon it from time to time) and best of all there is nothing more comfortable than that light thin sweat absorbent fabric.
The more perceptive amongst you might have understood where I am going. For the rest, yes this is a plug. Not for Nike or for Adidas, or for Rbk. This is for our friends at SoccerPro, a US based football merchandising company. Just to show me how much they like me err BigFourZa that is, they were kind enough to make a valuable addition to my wardrobe. I am now the proud owner of the Arsenal Training Top. Needless to say I have never worn it for an intense training session, but I have worn it to a party, an examination and a quiet dinner out with the sister and I absolutely LOVE it. The next thing on my shopping wish list is an Arsenal Jersey and I know where I need to go.
The range of original licensed products SoccerPro offers is staggering to say the least. Soccer Jerseys for clubs ranging from United to Chivas Guadalajara and for national teams from Argentina to Scotland. For the serious football players who actually CAN curl the ball from a free kick, they have a selection of boots that range from Ronaldo’s first choice to Messi’s. Hell, if you aspire to be the next Pierluigi Collina, they can kit you up in black with a wallet containing those two dreaded cards which are the scourge of every player, defender and striker alike. Let me put it this way. If you want to play football, all you need to arrange for is the place. Everything else SoccerPro has covered.
The most exciting part of it all is that BigFourZa will soon be partnering SoccerPro to exclusively bring their products to you in India! Anything that you need from SoccerPro we’re on our way to bring it to you. You no longer have to go shopping only to find green Arsenal Jerseys and Yellow United shorts. No fakes here. They’re all original, licensed articles and they are priced so beautifully, that your wallets will never end up like an anorexic model.
We’re hoping to get that show on the road very soon. Hopefully you’ll be able to order your favorite club’s ’10-’11 jersey right here on BigFourZa. And if you don’t have this season’s jersey I fully recommend you log onto http://www.soccerpro.com and let our friends there ship your jersey out. It takes barely a week and the pleasant feeling of anticipation is almost as good as watching a 40 yard Gerrard screamer.
So go online and order away. Wear the colors.
