Nicolas Anelka – the bad boy of football has done it again. His comments a day before the Champions League Quarter Finals clash at Anfield have left me seething with anger.
“I played my best football at Liverpool because I played in my best position. There was Michael Owen, who’s a natural goalscorer, and Emile Heskey, who sets lots of things up for you.The three of us complemented each other.”
Contrast this to what John Terry had to say:
“I am very determined to go the extra step this year and win the trophy. That burning (disappointment) I suffered last year will live with me forever. The one way I can make that pain ease a little bit is to win this trophy. I can do that with the manager we have in charge this season.”
I guess this is what separates a passionate player like John Terry who has vowed to retire only at Chelsea; from somebody like Anelka who has played for Liverpool,Arsenal,Bolton,Real and Chelsea and hopefully some other club next season.
By the way, whats all this about:
‘I would say yes to my girlfriend, not to him (Perez) because I cannot see myself playing for Real Madrid.’
Any guesses?? Florentino Perez don’t you get it? You cannot have Torres,Lampard,Van Persie,Fabregas and Messi in the same side. Cristiano Ronaldo is the only one who might just kiss your ass. After all he is used to a lot of the hair dyer treatment.
Liverpool undoubtedly is basking in glory at the Moment and the last thing that we could have done was to further spur them on. It is an utter lack of Maturity on the part of the Mindless Anelka to Mis attribute his love to the Morphed Reds at a Mistimed Moment (I don’t have an idea where so many M’s are coming from). His insanity is evident at the generosity he shows towards the ‘extremely talented’ Emile Heskey. Ha!!
Liverpool in the Champions League at Anfield is a tough proposition. Amongst the Big 4 of the English Premier League, Liverpool and Chelsea are the most European (read most classy). They can play the game at a controlled pace, make better use of set pieces and hold the ball longer. The more marketed Premier League on the other hand rewards teams which are fast and more direct. The Champions League had therefore eluded the English teams for such a long time.
The key players in Liverpool at the moment are Xabi Alonso , Gerrard ,Torres and the Stubborn Slovakian Skrtel. The Alonso- Lampard tussle would be a treat to watch, specially keeping in mind the history between the two. For Chelsea, it would be Drogba,Essien,Lampard and Terry. These two sides know each other so well that it would be hard to bet against a draw. I would go for a draw with an away goal for Chelsea by Drogba.
I read that he was to eager do a Eastenders appearence :O. Sounds a bit dodgy to me. There’s a bit of me that kind of wishes this is not true lol.
