Following the pre-season from behind blue eyes:
Chelsea dived straight into the premier footballing burger, biting off a lil’ bit more than what they could have chewed.
Hull, Sunderland, Fulham, Burnley and Stoke were dispatched quite easily raking in 12 goals in the process.
Tough nuts from Porto came to the bridge and left with empty shells and so like every year, I kept telling myself that surely this is our year … sigh.
Then came along Spurs, matches like these are the reason why broadcasting rights fetch a gazillion wild boars. After some exciting end to end stuff I was glad to see that we came out on top 3-0, making it the 11th straight league win – a club record. Looking at the notes of the match: Cudicini, who was between the posts for Spurs, was given an award to recognize his ten years at the bridge. Legend.
With such a start, Wigan seemed like a house fly, but the pesky latics dropped a bomb with a 3-1 defeat and in the process managed to get Cech sent off, break the 100% run in the league and make us loose top spot to the reds! I remember watching the game! It was horror show and perhaps the first real sign of that shaky away form.
Looking back, an 8-0 payoff on the return leg makes it kinda worthwhile
