- The extended highlights package for the game will probably be for a duration of 45 seconds and will contain multiple angle replays of Shay Given’s shoulder dislocation because that was pretty much all that actually was interesting in the whole game.
- Speaking of Shay Given, it was fantastic to see the support and applause that he got from the grove faithful when he was stretchered off clearly in pain. Here’s wishing him the best so that he can be fit in time for the World Cup err start of next season.
- City do a mean Wolves impression. At no point in the game were there less than 9 outfield players behind the ball. For an attack that boasts of Bellamy, Tevez, Greedybayor and Johnson it’s a damning indictment that they didn’t draw a single save off Fabianski especially since it is well documented that the surest way to score against Arsenal is to get Lukasz involved.
- It was weird to see Diaby mark Vieira. Kind of like a Mortal Kombat game where you pit Raiden against Raiden or Johnny Cage against Johnny cage. It was however good to see the laziest appearing Frenchman get stuck in and give Paddy a taste of his own medicine.
- Referee was shit. Of the top of my head I can recall repeated fouls on van Persie by Kolo and a kick out by Paddy that went unpunished.
- Silvestre just appeared good because he had nothing to do really. If you want quality interceptions, you just had to keep your eyes trained on Clichy. What a player! Sol too was quite simply brilliant. Threw himself everywhere. I’d give him an extension with my eyes closed if I were the Boss.
- We were very clearly missing Cesc. I mean we didn’t once work Nielsen who is the not even the 1st choice goalie for the Faroe Islands. I mean the only guy who has more experience conceding is Lukasz the San Marino goalie. Surely a little bit of pressure on him and he’d have cracked.
- The only thing uglier than a length of the pitch running and celebrating Adebayor is the grin like a Cheshire cat whenever someone fouls me Adebayor. I nearly puked my guts out 5 times and had bad dreams last night remembering a smiling Greedy.
- I just wish van Persie had done a little more damage to him with that tackle of his. I mean if you’re getting booked, you might as well make sure he doesn’t make it to South Africa as an expert pundit
- Yeah well, ultimately THE most boring match I’ve seen the Arsenal involved in, in quite some time. But the good thing I guess is we made a point which shut the title door on us firmly, but took us one small step closer to ensuring we finish third. And after last week’s Wigan debacle, I’ll take it gladly

Agreed, match was a huge BORE!
“I mean if you’re getting booked, you might as well make sure he doesn’t make it to South Africa as an expert pundit”
Wenger was quite happy to see out a draw as it ensures a champions league spot come what may and as it is we were already out of title contention so what’s the harm?
Wenger should have started Eboue instead of Walcott.
That said,
I have nothing else to say.
Game was boring as f*ck.
OK, Fabregas the leader was missing. He`s 22 years old, captain at twenty one and without him we lose direction. Why?
I have to ask myself the question. Are the rest just playing to instructions and afraid to make a mistake or raise the ire of Mr Wenger?. Has this quiet philosophical man got his players on a string like puppets with no mind of their own? Is Fabregas the only one with the backbone to challenge him because he knows without him Wengers dreams fall apart.
These are wild accusations and I`m probably wide of the mark, if I am please forgive me, but a team like Arsenal should not have to rely on a young man barely out of his teens, no matter how good he is.
23 Aussie Jack, but that is besides the point.
However, i just feel that people like Nasri and Diaby aren’t people who can win matches on their own right. they provide the perfect balance when they play around someone like Cesc can, or for that matter like Rooney, Xavi, Messi, Ronaldo can. I don’t exactly agree with your Wenger puppetmaster analogy.
Cesc is a football great. The others are just good. Well yes, he’s 23 but he has the maturity and the game of a 28 year old. And i see no folly in basing our game around our best player.
thats two hours of my life that am never getting back again.. can’t wait for the world cup..
Maddy..I`m not suggesting Wenger is a `puppetmaster` it`s merely a thought, after all we are told he`some kind of God at Emirates and held in awe by some players. I agree there are players who are there to balance the side ,that`s true of all teams, but there doesn`t seem to be a back up leader and giving the armband to Almunia rather than a player out in the middle doesn`t impress.
I would have thought Vermaelen, who has a controlling attitude, would be better suited .
