Forgive my prolonged absence. It is absolutely unpardonable, though fact is that the average arsefan has had so much more than just my small space to keep them entertained over the past couple of weeks which have been fantastic. The Arsenal has posted its Q1 results and they have been emphatic. The dividends that have been paid out to us have more than compensated our investment of time and passion. A spectacular return of 55 goals in all competitions already, 38 of which have come in the league. The naysayers who were extremely skeptical before the IPO at the start of the season are now coming out in droves talking up our chances and the probability that we’re going to break the 100 goal barrier. (As you can see, it’s been a busy time at the workplace).
Are we genuine contenders? Yes. Can we score 100 goals this season? Maybe. I’d love it if we did. Is there any point in discussing that? Nope. There was a time last season when we couldn’t score to save our lives and went through some 25 successive 0-0s. Though I don’t expect us to go down THAT road again, we still will find ourselves playing games where we will have to grind out the 3 points a lá Fulham at the cottage. Of course every game henceforth could be Evertonian with us scoring 6 per and posting a final tally of exactly 200. Could happen.
Cesc however subscribes to my conservative estimate even though I’m certain he’d like my Evertonian dream to come true too as that would see him end the season with 61 league goals. He’s a month younger than me and clearly has a much more mature head on his shoulders. He thinks he’s shite at the moment and wants to play better. I for one would not mind seeing better than 11 assists and 7 goals in 10 games. I think I finally get what Wenger was saying when he said last year that we need more leaders on the pitch. Gallas now is less of a captain and more of a leader, Vermaelen is clearly born to be one, Van Persie and Arshavin can be my bosses any day. Things are looking perfect.
And then there comes the International Break. I’ve decided to start a Facebook petition using the application Causes. Ban the International break I’m titling it. All it does is break our players in half (or Rosicky into a million pieces) and makes them lose rhythm. Of course it does have some advantages. As keyrock so astutely pointed out in his post, all those Mancs now have two whole weeks to stew in the disappointment of a terrible loss to Chelsea. Oh and if anyone has any idea how to start the bloody petition do give me a ring.
Speaking of United, Someone who should shut his mouth is Fletcher. Apparently the referees are being mean to poor ‘ickle Fletchy because Le Boss called him a serial fouling, yellow card deserving thug in public. Heh, if only people listened to Le Boss more often, the world would be a better place. And if any manager should shut up he doesn’t need to look any farther than his own dressing room.
In other news, as you might well be aware, Stan ‘also the man along with Fran’ Kroenke now owns 29.9% of the Arsenal football club. Unlike Tom Hicks, George Gillette and Malcolm Glazer he does not have sizeable personal debt which he can immediately riddle the Arsenal with. Clearly Peter Hill Wood and Le Boss aren’t too worried and I’d take Silent Stan as he’s come to be known over Usmanov any day. Though, I really don’t get it. If he buys even one more share he has to make a formal full takeover bid. What if people don’t want to sell? Do we say Right then. That’s good. Back to where we were? Boardroom business is a funny business.
Sunderland away next. That however is a whole TWO weeks away. How’re we going to survive this break? We could download our respective team’s games from the weekend to watch them again. Of course if you’re a manc or a blue you might rather wait. I’m sure you’d be less bored doing nothing than watch that snoozefest. The scouse and we can watch. We did what we did best – score heavily and they didn’t do what they do best. Lose. Hey! A point at home to Birmingham and Ngog is a diver. Lets the boos begin.

The times they are a changing mate. they are a changing…..
Yes they definitely are.
Ngog is no Torres and Lucas is no Alonso. Actually, who the **** is this Lucas guy and why does Benitez insist on putting someone that bad on the pitch?!?!?!
Back to the point, yes the Gunners’ a-few-matches-short-of-mid-season review is pretty good. We’re scoring goals playing a nice fun game. Now I go into hibernation for two weeks,
