The past two weeks have been brilliant as far as Chelsea are concerned. 17 goals scored without reply in all competitions. Sadly for other fans though, they would probably have missed the spectacle due to a host of other much-hyped fixtures. Consider this:

Sexy, beautiful, breath-taking, bewitching, captivating, enthralling, irresistible, mesmerizing… I’m running out of words that can fully describe the football that was on show while the less fortunate were looking the other way.
By the time they were 3-0 up at Bolton and into the last few minutes of the game, having merrily danced and strolled their way for the past 360 mins on the pitch through the beautiful English autumn, Chelsea players decided to do a bit of poetry. The cast was there, the fans were singing, the stage was set, so why not ?
Anelka drifted to the left, carried the ball effortlessly to the edge of the penalty-box, and chipped it in. Deco chests it onto Lampard. A glorious back-heel on the first touch by Lampard into Drogba’s path. Drogba coolly slots it past an entranced Jaaskelainen. Neither him, nor his Bolton team-mates moved for a second or two, wondering whether to feel frustrated at conceding another goal, or to celebrate with Chelsea players for having the privilege to watch this exquisite piece of magic. It was like chicken-soup football for a distressed soul. And you thought only Barcelona could do that. Dare I say, not even Barcelona could do that !!
It was especially heart-warming to see the 4 players who were involved in this goal. Anelka is playing the best football of his career. Deco is showing flashes of his old self with some delicious flicks and passes, and neat finishing. Lampard is back to doing what he does best, scoring goals and setting up goals. And Drogba in such imperious form.
After the successive away defeats to Wigan and Aston Villa, it was important for the players to rally around and send out a strong message. But the job’s not done yet. We need to keep our feet firmly on the ground and focus solely on the next game. Sunday’s top of the table clash with United is massive, but first we need to get a good result against Atletico away on Tuesday to ensure qualification from the group stages. I will trust Carlo to remind this to the team though. Way to go lads. KTBFFH !!!
