This will be the biggest thing in a couple of years. Just like UEFA have done with their Champions League, we will do with this. This will be to cricket what the… er… Champions League is to football.
-Lalit Modi, Chairman, Champions League T20
To all ye doubters who mocked at my observation of some other tournament being the clear inspiration for this tournament. Well, cough, there you have it. Straight from the horse’s mouth.Couple of more points before we all get back to the football. Keiron Pollard is the epitome of all that T&T stood for throughout the tournament. Strong, without a care in the world and an absolute disrespect for reputations. Polly certainly was a cracker. Too bad his last inning was only of 4 sixes. Though one did land land in the third tier of the 3-tier ground.
The second is Brett Lee. Sure he stepped up to the plate on the big day and all, and was amazingly fast. But to turn back and wave at the crowds at every opportunity in India? With an ODI series starting tomorrow? I think he’s laying his foundations for the next Slumdog-type thing Bollywood wants to make. Uncool.
Anyway, back to the football.

first of all, giving credit to the creator eliminates the idea of plagiarism !!! UNDERSTAND THAT !!!..
Secondly you coming out and claiming that only football should have a champions league and that no other sport should have the best teams come together again is stupidity.
Thirdly UEFA should be proud that other sports are following their lead… they arent complaining that the name similarities and the broadcasting of such events affects their viewership as they are competing in totally different markets…
fourth, aussies have done a lot of goodwill work in India. Steve and Mark Waugh,Brett Lee and others have done a lot of charitable work in India..Much more than you, YOU NON CONTRIBUTING ZERO… If a foreigner likes India be polite and be nice.. The important part of being Indian is accepting other cultures being diverse and multicultural ourselves. People from different cultures act in Hollywood everyday.Learn to write proper articles, atleast learn to read what you write..
aussies have done a lot of goodwill work in India
You wouldn’t happen to be speaking about Brett Lee banging Preity Zinta, would you?
Wow…Thats a total “in ur face” rebuff…
but Color sensor, i don’t think ducky was disrespectful to Indians in any sense.and listen just because Modi is an Indian doesnt mean we have to sing his praises. I think no one would have complained had he handled matters in a non-selfish non-arrogant manner. He has made BCCI actually look like an evil force thats trying to dominate the world, pulling out every other thing in its way. I personally don’t like the way he smudged ICL and imposed ban on its players internationally. Theres one thing that IPL and Champs league generates more revenue for a lot of people. But doing it like you are the god of all things doesn’t settle with me. Look at what he has made of the game. Cheer leaders, bollywood etc. And the way he kicked off IPL 2 like a IPO at the Mumbai stock exchange and him waving Trinidad and Tobago flags after all indian teams were kicked out was dumb.
Platini is equally dumb but he couldn’t enforce whatever he thinks like Modi does.
Color sensor, why so serious ma? What do you have stuck up your behind? Cricket bat that is banging your brain? Or is aussie dick stuck so far down your throat that you can’t talk sense anymore?
While I don’t find myself agreeing with Ducky too often, I think he has a point here. Alright fine, multicultural, friendship and all. But bottom line, Lalit Modi has taken the common man’s game and turned it into the playground for the rich and famous. Which sucks. And Brett Lee wasn’t waving because he wants to be our friend, but because T20 is now much more a spectacle than just a sport. And in spectacles you do drama.
Brett Lee’s notable contributions to India were agreeing to sit in the same room with Simi Agarwal for 1 hr, and thus sparing some Indian that torture.
P.S. To the moderators, apologies for the crude language, but this dude just gets on my nerves
Color sensor my friend, that was the single biggest emission of gas from an orifice that i have ever seen in my life..(and i have been to gas fired power plant)
I really don’t feel like saying anything that hasn’t already been said…but I will say this…cricket is still the single biggest uniting factor in this country…bloody hell..it got a scouser, a gunner and a Devil..all to agree on something…the Champions league (cricket version) was a piece of worthless junk and u my friend are full of hot air..
stop fighting over Indian Cricket. It died a silent death after 2003 world cup.
I agree with some of Color Sensors views tho. there’s so much hatred against the Aussies, but they do a lot of goodwill work as CS said. Anyways most of these hatred is only game related like we all do here and they also deserve it
