Maddy’s Note: Ladies and Gentlemen, don’t you wish you were in this guy’s shoes? Pops down to the Emirates every weekend. A good game, a nice pint to celebrate the win. Sigh. He has the life. The good thing though is once he’s done with his pint, he goes straight to his computer and writes for BigFourZa! Keep it coming Felipe
What a flamboyant football game. In every aspect there were positive outcomes and that was felt not only in the atmosphere around the stadium, but amidst our squad as a whole.
It always pleasant to attend a Champions League game at home. The Emirates stands are filled with people in black ties and fancy suits who have just left their respective workplaces, expect for a lazy student who came around hours earlier.
The first half was a massacre. If not for Nikopolidis, we could have gone to half time with three or four goals under our belt. Our movements were fabulous, our hunger was captivating and that feeling turned into frustration, but a positive one which fed us with a unmeasurable ambition to finally score past that goalkeeper and win that game. That rampant feeling was spread through the stands and for the first time in the season our supporters were completely engaged to our team and focused on boosting the players. And then, after a couple of subs, a quick and stunning pass from Fabregas found Eduardo who broke into the box and thanks to his impressive run he tapped the ball past the goalkeeper, finding Van Persie who found the back of the net.
After that it was like an explosion at the Emirates. We were all jumping and screaming and when I saw Robin calling everybody to celebrate with him I could not avoid a smile. That was a proof of our togetherness, of our ambition and maturity. Even with a very solid Olympiacos side we never, ever, gave up. We never stopped fighting. Wenger brought Eduardo on. Vela on. That proves our hunger for victories, which makes a victorious and winning team.
To make things even better, an offside Arshavin backheeled the ball to the net once again following a well timed cross by an impressive Eboue. The party was complete.
Carry on lads. Am speechless.
