Ten things that might/could/should not happen next season. In no particular order.
- Michael Owen scores more goals that his entire 4 years at Newcastle. Oh wait, he’s already done that.
- The confusing Champions League structure results in quarter-final matchups such as Standard Liege vs. Dinamo Bucharest while Arsenal, Sevilla and other equivalent 4th place teams are knocked out.
- Real Madrid are investigated for running a giant Ponzi scheme, where they bought progressively more expensive players by collecting money from all their lesser players.
- Man City adopts Plan B to increase attendance- ‘Every fan is given a gallon of fuel free’. Plan A: ‘Emmanuel Adebayor’ fails miserably.
- Carlos Tevez scores with a back-heel against United that relegates them and helps Leeds becomes champions. Ok, maybe not that.
- Liverpool say they will become champions. This year. Definitely.
- Roman Abramovich says they will become champions. Rest of Russia begs to differ, but are afraid to say it because of the gulags.
- Arsene Wenger says his team has now fully matured, and will be champions. Yes sure, and pigs would fly. But then again, swine flu.
- Everyone else says United won’t be champions. Sir Alex says nothing.
- In spite of Man City, Aston Villa and Arsenal, the Big Four remains unchanged. And this blog stays relevant

Steven Gerrard retires from association football to take up professional boxing, and then gets in the dock for kicking a fellow pub-goer’s balls.
Arsenal break their own record and play 10 consecutive 0-0 games, remain ‘Invincible’, and lose out on Europa league by one point…to Tottenham.

Wenger authors a book –
“How to lose players and alienate your fans… And still keep your job !”
Dude.. He’s making excellent money.. At the rate at which football clubs are becoming dependent on rich owners, it won’t be long before the markets crash big time, when IPL (and KPL?) teams become the ‘in thing’ to own… Remember, the nightmare all Chelsea (and now Pool, United, Fulham, Spurs, Newcastle, and City) fans keep having…
Look at it from Wenger’s point of view… His only real loss will be Toure (if he leaves)… Considering Adebayor’s skill-set, it is always better to have in your own box… And, even Toure is 28, at least 7 years too old for Wenger’s liking..
ESPN lists some of Wenger’s top sales..

Yes, but what if these latest sales result in Arsenal slipping out of top 4 ? Is that a risk worth the money earned from transfers ??
Hey!
I agree with you. It’s not worth slipping out of the top 4 for cash. Although, if it’s about financial stability, it may be worth it.
Who knows what happens in boardroom..
kedar,
a line to demarcate business and football needs to be drawn.as a fan i beleive i d dwell into whats happening on the pitch than in the board room.in that respect arsenal fans will feel aggrieved until the correct replacements arrive no matter how much cash the club has made.
Long term stability and all is just another usual arsenal fan’s rhetoric replete with delusions of grandeur.
I agree with the first part of your statement. As for your dig at our ‘delusions of grandeur’ you can fuck off. You do need to have long term stability and that is what Wenger has been aiming for.
Its not like the club sold all those players and put the money in the bank for it to collect interest. If that were the case ill agree that its nonsense. But the money has been invested elsewhere. We just built our stadium which is one of the finest in Europe and cannot borrow heavily anymore. The situation was made worse by the recession because the board were expecting a huge chunk of the emirates cost to be offset by the Highbury Construction project. But that plan got scuppered because real estate fell like a pack of cards and there were no takers. Borrowing to buy was never Wenger’s style. He’s always advocated a self sustaining business. If we sold Ade and Kolo the money has already been spent of Arshavin and Vermaelen. He probably has another 15m to spend rather than the blind fugure of 40m being bandied about.
Stupid borrowing will only take us the Leeds way.
Shit. Keyur, you’ve been trying verrry hard to get me pissed man. I swear i wrote the other comment about chelsea before i saw all this shit. keep it up man. i could use a few laughs.
Ahh…atleast I got my good friend to have a few laughs. This is the time Maddy, laugh all you can. The new season is only a couple of weeks away !!
!@#$ !!! The season is only a couple of weeks away. Better get the farewell party for Ancelotti ready then….never know when this fellow will say tatah…
The manager won’t say goodbye da.
Ole Johnny and Franky will say
“This guy doesn’t know English. So naturally he’s gotta go. What’s that? He’s won a few world cups? Yeah well, I really wouldn’t know about that. Never seen a World Cup final.”
Apparently JT was pissed because Roman didnt consult him over the manager’s appointment and thats why he wanted to move to citeh. Damn!!
Was that supposed to be funny?? I’m sorry if I missed it.
Oh Dear, Oh Dear….Maddy, u’ve completely lost it. But then again, Arsenal – infatuation is a perilous proposition !!!
All I can say is, “Get well soon,… Mamu”
true man….it’s like a converse to karl malone clutching the olympics gold medal saying this is so much better than any nba trophy while the others in the team that HAVE seen a nba trophy try their least to hide their sniggers
What the… gooners talking up trophies and cups !!!
Is the Emirates Cup approaching??
funny really.i mean the arse have become pool 2 in proclaiming how this is their year, and their secret mantra “if we play well and remain injury free then who knows?” When they clearly know its(both of them) not gonna happen.
Uh!!! What? Where in all of that did you spot “Arsenal are going to win this year”? We were talking about the World Cup and the NBA championship and the mailman. Boys, Please get a life.
Oh and Keyur the Emirated cup IS approaching as a matter of fact
not essentially in this blog. But then isnt that kind of perception easy to discern?for the past five seasons you guys have always had the words “seeing next season” in your mouths during some part of each of the last 5 seasons. that is essentially a pool syndrome.they have been seeing next season for close to 20 years now
Isn’t that feeling natural? Think about it. No one goes into a new season thinking
Damn! We’re going to lose this season too.
There always has to be optimism, albiet casual optimism which is what I have. Anything else you may have discerned during our conversations in the past has to be playful bravado
We need some Pool supporters on this blog!!
yes keyur…chelsea has built a squad so big and awesome that they’re gonna win the epl, the champions league, the fa cup, the league cup, copa de america, the iit madras schroeter trophy and they will carry this momentum into next year’s world cup to be the first team in this century to beat australia .
they will also reach the nba finals where they will narrowly lose to the gunners.
read properly man
and i mean to beat australia in the world cup.
sorry about the inconvenience keyur.
the rest of you go wank off
Schroeter? What will Ganga shout about then?
I mean.. That’s pretty much the biggest event in most of their lives
