Words fail me.
For those who haven’t hears already and are hearing it here for the first time (well, thanks a lot firstly, glad to be your authoritative source of all news about the big four
). Tevez was offered the sky and a bit more with a 5-year contract at Manchester United. But Kia Joorabchain obviously has found better offers, most notably from the blue sides of Manchester and London respectively. As a result, Manchester United will now part with Carlos Tevez and wish him luck for the future.
If it read like an obituary, I can’t help it. Antonio Valencia is simply not enough.

chill man.in SAF we trust.
i dun reallt think it was Joorabchians doin.
Utd and City wer both offering 25.5 mil……so wht ever club Tevez goes to Kia stands to earn the same amount.
i think it was more abt Tevez wanting to play on a weekly bases more than anything else…….and Huges seems to have convinced him to do that.
i still dunno who Huges will play upfront wen they have Robinho, Tevez, Bellamy, Vassel, Benjani, Sturridge and now Santa Cruz
i ll tell you what hurt me the most. He opted against moving to Liverpool saying it will hurt the Man U fans and joined Man City. Atleast he didnt move to Chelski
Well, I’d prefer Tevez playing for City than for ‘Pool!
Although, with Ronaldo gone, Tevez would have surely got plenty of playing time, especially with Rooney performing on the flank.
But still, 34 mil in recession (if that exists for football) is a price which only inexperienced sheikhs and greedy oligarchs can throw around!
Anyway, like Vishwa said, in SAF we trust
@ Kedar
Firstly, its 25.5 m and not 34m.
Second, according to reports, Fergie did offer that sum to Tevez’s agents after Ronaldo deal, but Tevez turned it down claiming disrespect from the club.
So, basically, Fergie has been left with egg on his face…seeing proven goalscorers leave, and having to fight out for likes of Benzema (unproven at the highest stage), with other heavyweights like Madrid at highly inflated prices.
Oh wait, u might get Valencia. Enjoy !!!
@Keyur: Its ~34m only. 9m for loan deal and 25.5m now. So cock up. Chuth Tevez rejected a very high paying offer. Atleast in ManU’s history. They can’t pay like Chelski you see. 8m per year for Lampard and Terry for doing nothing!
Shoban,
9m was the wages paid by united to tevez over the 2 yrs loan deal. The buyout price for tevez is 25.5m to be paid now by whoever wants to buy him. LOL.
And Lamps and Terry are paid those wages to be the best midfielder and defender in the world respectively. Go check out UEFA’s annual best 11 list.
oh, and please tell me what does ‘to cock up’ even mean??…my vocab isnt too good u see…
Cock up means JKIITM. Like, Just Keep It In The Mouth.
Keyur,
Yes Fergie tried but couldnt keep him. It was Tevez’s decision and that s respected and all. But your
“seeing proven goalscorers leave, and having to fight out for likes of Benzema .” is one truck-load of crap. Not like Chelsea are behind the living legends of the game remember , they are behind Pato, Sturridge etc and there is nothing very dangerous about it.
And we still have a team which is capable of challenging for top honors and Valencia wouldnt be as bad as u think or expect or hope he d be. Until then have fun with Sturridge.
@ keyur :
Sorry, but I was under the impression that the total fees (loan inclusive) was coming to around 34 mil. Thanks for correcting.
besides, benzema has been playing well over the past couple of years. he and ben arfa were (are) hot prospects. arsenal were apparently trying to bring in ben arfa.
it’s again a policy thing. united are willing to buy benzema young and develop him, rather than repeatedly bid for kaka and failing every time..
@ Vishwa :
sportinglife claims that Tevez wanted more time to think over the deal but united did not give it to him, so united ‘pulled themselves out of the race’ (or some such thing he said).
@Vishwa
Your having to tell me Valencia wudnt be as bad as i think underlines my point. He is nowhere near the quality united is losing is he?
As for Chelsea, its not losing anyone is it? Drogba, Anelka are still there, Joey will be back next season, and if they get Zhirkov that would solve the left wing problem too. Sturridge is more of a backup option, and might have been bought keeping the 6+5 rule in mind.
@Kedar,
Benzema is quality undoubtedly, but he hasnt really been tested against quality opposition too often. So, at something like 40million it would be a huge gamble. And for that price, you dont want raw talent that can be groomed over next 3-4 yrs., u expect a finished product.
As for Ben Arfa, the less u talk the better. His ego and attitude rise far higher than his talents which is why he was offloaded from Lyons to Marseilles. Typical French.
Keyur,
The gulf in quality is very apparent. But i think Fergie would change the style of play according to the strengths and weaknesses of the team that he will assemble before the summer ends. This is a task he is well capable of. After Ruud’s departure people wondered where Man U’s goals are gonna come from. But he put those qualms to rest in some fashion.
The arrival of Valencia and Benzema (IFFFFF!!!!) would herald a change in Man Utd’s approach and not the fact that they will be direct replacements of Ronaldo and Tevez.
And as regards your concern about the Benzema buy being a gamble yoked with nefarious perils . I totally understand it. I am of the opinion that after Money , experience talks the most. And Keyur, need i remind you of Fergie’s
“…risks are part of football. The club has been built on that”
Kedar,
Dont know who was behind the transfer. Saw the news on Man U’s web site and opted not to read any further.

Nice article!!worth reading although some of the comparisons are questionable
*bawls*
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
@ Aarathi
HAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHA
GOOD RIDDANCE
Heard they want Eto’o too. great going. Do they want to become the real madrid of epl? err madrid was good in 2002. More than what i can say for City
Something weird about Tevez’s decision to go to Eastlands. He quits United, stating that he had fallen down the pecking order and was not treated well, and where does he go? Manchester City!
Manchester City have the following players fighting for a place up front -
Robinho, Adebayor, Tevez, Santa Cruz, Bojinov, Bellamy, Caicedo, Jo
Does Tevez really think he’s going to find a place in that team? Or has Hughes promised him some 2 – 2- 6 combination?
I understand his feeling insulted and refusing to put pen on paper at United, but to go to their closest rivals, where playing time will be even more limited, is a little confusing!
I think it’s going to be a couple of years before he gets frustrated, and Real Madrid have one more election and another HUGE bank account, to pry him away. And of course, by then, the Sheikh will be interested in horse-racing..
Horse Racing
And I think the names you mentioned after Bojinov aren’t an issue. Ade is Ade and Robinho doesn’t score on the road (must be to do with the away kit). So, it’s just Roque. Who’s obviously not Rooney. Hence proved.
